Tirupati

The sacred town of Tirupati is one amongst the 8 holiest places of Lord Mahavishnu. This temple town of Andhra Pradesh is highly revered and worshiped by people of all religions who flock here from all over the world. Devotees believe that it is an abode of god as it houses some of the most sacred temples on the planet.

Sri Venkateswara Temple remains the most popular religious spot in the town. Housing various complexes, this temple is renowned for Vishesh Puja which is solemnized here from 5:30 am till 6:30 am every day. It is attended by over 50,000 pilgrims who visit here to seek blessings of the almighty.

Swami Pushkarini Lake, flowing close to the Sri Venkateshwara Temple, is also very renowned in Tirupati. Legends say that Lord Vishnu owned this lake and Garuda brought it to the earth. The lake is considered as extremely holy and devotees take a dip into its waters before heading for the main temple.

Akasaganga Teertham waterfall also remains popular in Tirupati. Its water gushes down throughout the year and it has a huge religious importance. Another natural marvel of the town is Silathoranam, a known attraction in archaeology and heritage. This is one of the only three of this kind of rock formations on the planet. Pilgrims believe that this rock formation has a connection with the idol of Lord Venkateswara. It is a national monument today and is protected by the State Government.
